Blank Message Content using Sed To as Attachment

If I have a Word doc open and select "Send to as attachment" any text I type in message body goes away and is replaced by "<<>>" Using Outlook 2003 as email program. I looked at contents of message in Sent folder and message is blank there. This tells me it is something to do with Office 2003. Any Help
