Hi & a great new year to you all,

I am exporting data from a table in approach which is comma delimited. The last field at the end of each record is a path to an image but for some reason when exported this field is carried over to a new line before the quotation marks at the end of the data on every record. I've checked all the data but can find no reason. Any ideas?

Thanks..

Which version of Approach?

It's usually something in the data that causes this but I can't imagine what it could be in a filename. You can test this by changing the field order so it is no longer the last. Does the record still break at the filename field or does it break at the last field no matter what the last field is?

Are you using Approach's delimited format or one of the ODBC text drivers? Approach's is "Text - Delimited (.TXT)", near the bottom of the Export Type list.

Paul,

Thankyou for responding so speedily.

It's v9.6, "Text - Delimited (.TXT)" and a file path sample is as follows - "Product Images\f11.jpg". I've tried tab delimited and exporting the fields in a varying order but the last quotation marks still break to a new line ie:

"Product Images\f11.jpg
"

The only difference in each path is the f number.

If it's caused by the data, it's probably something in field prior to the filename that causes the record to break at that point. What's in that field?

There is nothing in the field prior to the filename. The filename is assembled via a macro which combines three fields:

1. Product Images\f
2. the number
3. .jpg

The filename field is text, length 30.

I've deleted the field and reassembled it again in a new blank database with only the three other fields from which it is assembled and the macro as a test but the problem persists.

Maybe there is an alternative solution?

Try defining a calculated field that uses the Combine function to return the filename from the three fields. Then try to export the calc field instead.
