Hello All,

I have a problem with ARCserve 11.5 SP3 on Server 2003 R2 - The Activity Log is blank.

I have seen other posts with exactly the same problem but the suggested fixes don't appear to work in my case - I must be missing something obvious !

Taken from the last accepted fix for this problem :

- I have ensured that the Organize option on the activity Log tab has ALL 3 check boxes enabled under "use filters" and the pull down menu beneath it has "show all messages".
- Have ran CSTOP
- Made sure caloggerd.exe is not running on Windows processes.
- Then renamed the log folder under the Brightstor folder
- Ran CSTART

What should I be renaming this folder to as I still have a blank Activity Log when going back in after running CSTART ?

Many Thanks, Barcellos.

Don't think it is necessary to rename the Log directory, you can accomplish the same thing by deleting the BrighStor.* files under the log directory.

Check the permissions on the log directory, ARCserve parent directory and it's share.

Restart the server.

Thanks for the advice, however running CSTOP, deleting the Brightstor.log file from within the LOG directory, then C START hasn't worked.

I still don't have anything in the Activity Log. Also, ARCserve locks up now. If I put the Brightstor.log file back in the LOG directory it doesn't lock up.

I've checked the shares & these appear to be set at the defaults.

Any other ideas ?

To add :

As the server is still on the workbench being prepped, I have deinstalled & reinstalled 11.5 to defaults (no SP3) & the Activity Log is still blank.

Yes backup jobs complete fine & the .log file is appended accordingly.

However through removing/reinstalling, etc, I'm now having licence issues. I've removed entries from the registry & also ran the lic98 removal batch file but still problems.

I'm therefore changing tact with this slightly now - is there a procedure to do a full clean uninstall of 11.5 (i.e. leaving no registry entries, folders, files, etc..), so I can perform a fresh install on my server as if no ARCserve product has been on it before ? Struggling to find anything on CA's web site.

Many Thanks.
