AFter trying numberous times to install a blackberry , the OS (XP)is still telling me that the USB device is Not Recognized .. I have installed many blackberries before and never seen this before. I'm using version 3.6 install, but believe it has nothing to do with the software and believe it could be a device problem..I have installed and reinstalled the software many times.

Have you tried another handheld with this same USB port?

If you have and still get the error message, then the USB posrt and/or its drivers is your most likely point of failure.

What Outlook are you using ? Sounds like you need desktop Sp2.

I had the same trouble. I had to call support for Verizon and basically I had to do what they call "violate" the Blackberry. I had to give it a password and then continue to re-enter the password incorrectly (10 or 12 times, I think) then you finally get a message that says it will totally erase the Blackberry. Once it completely erases the Blackberry then it will recognize the USB device. I had tried other Blackberries - reinstalled the drivers - another computer, etc. All to no avail until I did this. Hope this helps you too.

Is this on a laptop? I've had many issues with docking stations not working correctly. If it is a laptop, might try undocking and plugging it direct.

I had a slightly similar issue. The installer I was running for some reason didn't talk to the device (same installer as usual). I manually updated the driver after the install. This cured it.

All good fellows..SOrry I left this open for so long..The problem has now been resloved..Thanks for your input

I ran into the same problem, the user actually had the device working (BB 7750) then suddenly it just stopped being recognized by winXP. BB support has numerous "solutions" to the problem.

I followed their solution on turning off Power management for each USB root hub and it fixed the device automatically. NOTE: I did this fix on a test machine, not the user's original machine. After the device was recognized, I wanted to do the same procedure to the user's machine but as soon as the USB port was plugged in the device automatically connected. Still do not have conclusive evidence, but it still could have been a problem with the device or the USB connector. I'm leaning more towards the device.

Good luck!!! :)

Run the USB drivers that come on the BB CD, it will find new hardware and you point it to the BB CD .
