Hi folks,

We've got a BD6804 which has inexplicably started giving us hundreds of informational messages in its event log about the "transmit count" on two of it's ports.

It's very odd, config hasn't changed for over a month on this device, but we noticed today that every 20 seconds it tells us the TC for two ports on the switch. One of which happens to be the uplink to the "rest of the world", the other is a cross-site fibre.

Everything actually appears to be working perfectly, which is why we're slightly baffled as to why it's telling us. We can only guess that some sort of threshold has been crossed...

Anyway, here's what we're seeing:

08/15/2007 12:58.04 <INFO:KERN> Queue 3 port 1:1 Transmit count 0
08/15/2007 12:58.04 <INFO:KERN> Queue 2 port 1:1 Transmit count 0

If anyone's seen this before or knows what it means we'd be fascinated to find out.

Thanks.

Oh Yeah!

It's ExtremeWare 7.0.1b11 by the way, boot ROM 7.8.

Cheers

Right...

Answered my own question here:

1. Realised that it wasn't over a month since config last changed, it was just over a week ago
2. Found "enable qosmonitor port 1:1" and "enable qosmonitor port 2:6" in the config

Simple really, but not one I've seen before.

Now to find out who did it...

:)

QoS monitor allows you so see hardware queue hits. It's very useful when you are implementing IP Telephony or some other application that requires QoS and you want to make sure that certain traffic is being forwarded by a higher priority queue. QoS monitor tells you this.

Glad you figured it out. I was going to tell you to disable qosmonitor, but it looks like you found it on your own.
