I am a contract IBM mainframe + Oracle developer.
I have been hired for a DW/ETL contract - legacy to Oracle.
The manager mentioned Biztalk and asked me what I know about messaging (I replied : MQ and AQ).

I pounce on the opportunity to learn new skills , but this
is MS. I was planning to move into J2EE. I don't want to go
C# ASP .NET (the skills which accompany Biztalk in the job advertisements).

These skills are not much mentioned in Biztalk texts , but
do I need them to get a future Biztalk contract?

This is as much a question about the job market as technical skills.

Thankyou.

Biztalk 2004 and later versions are steeped in .NET. You really can't do Biztalk design without knowing a .NET language and having intimate knowledge of the Visual Studio environment, not to mention MS SQL.
