Hi All,

I've been able to deploy BizTalk Server 2004 to a (semi) dedicated server on our network and have also installed the development tools on my own machine (Big thanks to SgtPeppa for his reply to my last post). I've worked my way through the tutorial and it all looks good... until I go to deploy the BizTalk assembly.

I've been attempting to use the deployment wizard on my own machine to deploy the assembly to the remote server and it hangs. It sees the configuration database on the remote server but appears to be trying to install the assembly to the GAC on my own machine (there's a box checked to do this).

So I have a few questions:
1) Again, I've tried to find some documentation regarding remote deployment and can't, so if anyone could point me towards some I'd appreciate it

2) Should I be running the deployment wizard on the remote server instead of my own machine and using it to pick up the assemblies from my own machine?

3) Is there any way to configure the deployment wizard on my local machine to tell it where the server that it should be deploying to is?

Thanks for your time.

Hi again, nice to see you made it through the most difficult BizTalk part, the installation. ;)

I dont know if that is the final solution, but it is at least a workaround to get your files on the server.

1. Build your solution on local dev environment.
2. Copy the .dll file to a folder on your server.
3. Run the deployment wizard on your server and point it to your dll file.
4. On your local machine use the BizTalk Browser to configure your Send/Receive Ports and Orchestrations.

CAREFUL: After you ran the Deployment wizard on the server, you must use the refresh button on your local machine in the BizTalk Explorer. The BizTalk Explorer is only a snapshot of the BizTalk Management Database. If you dont see your dll or Orchestration in the BizTalk Explorer, use the refresh.

Again I dont know if that is the proposed solution on how to work remotely with BizTalk, but at least a workaround till you find a better solution.

Also here is a very good link you could use for further research:

This is the BizTalk Bloggers Guide. Most valuable resource! It collects all the best Blog Entrys from all recommended BizTalk Blogs and combines them in one help file.

Hope that you find a better solution than this soon.

Stephan
