Hello everyone,

I have a problem where i am trying to source an image that is contained in an "images" folder, mapping it out to the correct path and it still doesn't show up. meanwhile, when i map out the name of another image contained in the same folder, it appears fine. I am working on a simple html page.

for the image that doesn't work, somebody sent it to me via email. i downloaded that image directly into the images folder. maybe this could be the problem?? i realy have no clue. it appears fine when i am editing it in fireworks or photoshop.

does anyone have any idea why this image doesn't appear on the html page???

thanks
karren

Every time I've had this happen, the problem was with the proofreader - me. Just last week I had something like this happen. I spent a half-hour looking at it before I realized that the html was calling for an underscore _ when the file name had a hyphen -.

hi smah,

thanks for replying. i dn't think the problem is the proofreading because i actually right-clicked and copied the text on the image and pasted it into the html code. the text is NorthCampus.jpg. but thanks for responding :)

Do you get anything instead of the image? Little box with a red X? As both Smah and DeZiner pointed out the problem is more than likely an incorrect image address or image name. If you c&p the name then the address is probably wrong.

Also
/images/pic.gif
is not the same as
images/pic.gif

Could you post a link to the site or the HTML and we'll spot the mistake.

do you happen to be using Visual Interdev or something similar? When I add an image file by copying and pasting it, I usually have to right click on the file and select an option such as "add to project"

jen89 - no, i'm using homesite.

cian - yes, i'm getting a red box only.

thanks for your responses and your help. i think i know what the problem might be...the girl who sent me these photos said they were orginally made on a mac...could that be the problem?? if so, does anyone know how i'd go about fixing it??

the funny thing is that the other jpg or gif images that i didn't download from the attachment my friend sent me but got directly from a cd work fine if i paste their names in place of the images that don't work.

can you send html you are using (example of working and not)....think this is URL problem...quick look and we'll sort out.

Also if you can post the image somewhere I look at that too.

solved it.

i think the fact that these images were scanned on a mac originally may have been the problem.

in anycase, what i did was inserted one those images in fireworks and exported it as new jpg, replaced it with the old picture and then uploaded it locally. and it works!

thanks for all your help everyone!
