Recovering from Disaster using Bootable CD Medthod Windows W2K SP4 BrightStor V11. The server has 2 partitions (15GB C: and 167GB D:) all formatted in NTFS.
When I use the full backup from one server to perform DR to the other server. During the last step of DR process in the DR wizard, all the command buttons (like, create partition, delete partition, and assign ) are grey out. The partition information that I got from the DR wizard is partition C: is 36MB (1) , D: is 15GB (2)and a Raw partition. As I understand 36MB is EISA partition for COMPAQ UTILITITES. Since the cmd buttons are disabled, I cannot create the partitions . At the end, I can only restore the C partition. I had tried to pre-partition the drive first before I start the DR. But it said incomplete

Need Help..

I am assuming that you are using a RAID controller or some disk configuration that would require you to insert a scsi driver. when performing a bootable CD method, after you hit the F6 and insert the required driver (to see the disks) you must re-insert the machine-specific disk before continuing. Else, you may find that the partitions are not correct. So:
1) Boot from the Cd and insert the MSD (machine specific disk) and hit 'Y'
2) Hit F6 to install the scsi/fibre driver
3) before continuing, re-insert the MSD and continue.
Hopefuly, this should help.
Good luck - also, DR from one machine to another is not supported and might have problems, unless the hardware is pretty identical.
