BIOS Upgrade for Award Modular

Hi,

The BIOS on my system does not cater for hard drives of anything bigger than 30Gb. I think there is an upgrade available, but I can't seem to find the exact one, and I don't know enough to know whether some of the ones I've found on driverguide.com are any good or not.

The details of my BIOS are as follows...

BIOS Date: 06/02/1999
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 06/02/1999-i440BX-W977-2A69KA1JC-KU
OEM Sign-On: GREEN AGP/PCI/ISA SYSTEM
Chipset: Intel 440BX/ZX rev 3

Can anyone help me in finding the appropriate upgrade?

You need to get the BIOS update from the manufacturer of your motherboard (in all but very special cases). Look on their site for the upgrade. If there is none I would be hesitant to use a generic one unless you can afford to buy a new motherboard if it fails to work.

Some more info would be helpful. Do you know the maotherboard manufacturer? What make and model # of the computer!?

Use a program like WCPUID or SiSoftware Sandra to identify your make and model # of the motherboard if you cant find those actually printed on the motherboard or if you have no documentation for it. Both programs are free to download. Once you have the 'motherboard' identified, go to the manufacturer of the motherboard's website, find your model, and they usually have BIOS downloads and walkthroughs explaining how to flash it there. Just be absolutely certain the new bios is made for your motherboard or flashing it could render the board completely useless!
