Hi,
I have recently bought myself a second hand Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600. To my delight the first time I tried to boot the thing it has come up with the standard Password prompt - I have no idea what this is & it seems my new laptop is completely useless!
I have tried to identify the CMOS battery on the motherboard, but I am not entirely sure what I am looking for - does anyone have any detailed specs for this model?
Secondly, does anyone know of a way around this BIOS password or any backdoor passwords that may exist?
Thanks in advance for any help - this is driving me crazy!!
Cheers
Greg

You may be able to reset it with CmosPwd or KeyDisk. The loopback adapter can be built yourself, the diagram is on this site along with the two software packages mentioned:

Thanks. I cannot get to a DOS prompt to use CmosPwd or KeyDisk, as it is the supervisor password that is set. I will try making the loopback adaptor tonight and see how I go.
