BIOS or Windows problem

I got a home computer and its giving me problems. Every 4-6 hours, sometimes every 10 min my computer crashes. When it boots back up I get the send windows error report and it says i need to upgrade the BIOS because the Bios is not reading the right CPU. I upgraded and still same problem. Every time the computer boots up it shows the right CPU and all the drives. If you need more details let me know.

Test the following.

Fans. When the machine is OFF and unplugged, rotate fans with fingers. If you feel a lot of tension, thats a bad fan. Chech and replace bad fans.

Memory (CPU cache and system ram). Use Memtest86 (use google to find).

Check Motherboard using the supplied diagnostics (if you got any). Reset all jumpers to the default config (if your mobo has jumpers) and then go back to the ones you need.

If you overclock at all, go back to refference. We dont need more problems hiding smaller problems.

Try running with a PCI graphics card while ditching the AGP one (if you use cards vs onboard garbage). Crashing AGP devices can cause havoc with timing all over the system. COuld be GFX card.

Just a few ideas.

Is it one of those cases where the Intel 865 chipset doesn't natively support this core but the version of the motherboard and later socket type does?

Seems to me you need to email Soltek for advice on this particular combination because you have already upgraded the bios.
