So I've got an old celeron 700mhz gateway system, it's running on 64 megs of ram, a 20 gig hard drive and a brand new brookings motherboard. I can't seem to get past the opening gateway insignia, it gets half way, then stops.

It won't allow me to enter the bios, nor will it load up setup/dos off of a disk or cd-rom. I tried taking the hard drive out and throwing it in my main system (p4 2.2 w/soyo dragon lite mobo) and not only did it not show up, but the system was unable to read my main ide drive (a 60 gig maxtor) even when I put the 20 gig on the secondary.

Any idea's out there? I'm thinking bad hard drive? But can I do anything about it at all? ~Andy

Will the gateway machine boot a floppy with no hard drive installed?
Have you tried the 20GB drive on its own in the other system?

Drive isn't recognized on it's own in the other working system.
