I am having a problem the DNS (BIND 9.3.2) server on our network. It has no problem looking up local hosts but it will not forward requests for external hosts. For example:
# ping mail.domain.com
64 bytes from *.*.*.*: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.224 ms
but
# ping ping: unknown host
In my named.conf file I have:
forwarders {
1.1.1.1;
2.2.2.2;
3.3.3.3;
};
Also, if I use "dig" and specify the name server it is able to resolve it.
# dig @1.1.1.1
; <<>> DiG 9.3.2 <<>> @1.1.1.1 ; (1 server found)
