Big gap between report header and detail section for no reason 1

Here is my problem: whenever I create a report for a record other than record #1 there is a big gap (whitespace) between the header and detail section of the report. This does not occur for record #1 only 2 and up. Any idea why this is happening and how it can be fixed? Thanks!

The detail section is the section that is causing it but I have no idea WHY it is happening. It seems the higher the record number the bigger the gap. What is going on, im stumped

I'm not sure how we are suppose to know what is causing this. I have never seen anything like this before without a control that is set to Can Grow (Yes) that expands the detail section. Since you colored the background of all your controls in the detail section and couldn't identify which one was causing the issue, I can't help.

I would try create a new report and see if that fixed the issue.

Is your report single or multicolumn?

It is a single column report that consists of four subreports all contained within the "detail" section of the main report.

No, there is no code in the report themselves. The subreports are based off queries that contain basic SUMs etc but that shouldnt be causing this kind of error.

Did you try anything to determine if the subreports are causing the issue? Maybe displaying a different colored border around each of the subreports?

Subreports can go into any section of the report. It all depends on the relationship between the records contained in the report and subreport.

There are no actual records in the report itself; the main report is simply a placeholder for the rest of the subreports. I have semi-fixed this. I dunno how I did it but suddenly it stopped doing it as much. No change was done to the report itself so it leads me to think its a bug in access. What is causing that bug still remains a mystery to me. Thanks to everyone for your help!

I am glad to hear this worked out. Next time please be more precise when you first ask a question. It seems to me that you are not consistent with these statements:
"report for a record other than record #1"
and
"There are no actual records in the report itself"

Also, there really are no record numbers in Access so I assume this was a stored value in your table.

Also, you didn't tell us your report had subreports until your 3rd post. It seems to me this should have been explained in your first post as it is quite significant.

I apologize for the confusion. I guess to re-explain my situation:
The problem I was having, the gap being created, only occured when I created a report for a record # greater than 1. To further explain, to create the report there is a button on a form which simply opens it in preview mode and it is linked to the current record.
What I meant by there are no records in the report itself was that the MAIN report which contains the subreports is not based off any tables/queries etc. It simply holds the subreports together.
I didn't think to mention the subreports for whatever reason because I didn't think it should matter. No matter if it was a subreport or an actual control in the report they should be displayed the same.
