Hi,

At work we have a medical device with a 9 pin serial output. The device dumps data when it receives a string such as "BP,NM,VP,0000\0x0d". We are trying to connect this device to the network using a Lantronix console server. The console server has a serial and network interface and is ip addressable. I have verified that the console server is getting data by jumpering the serial output to create a loopback then telnetting to the device. I am not sure of the best/easiest way to send the above string through the console server to the medical device. Any detailed suggestions would be most appreciated. Also any tips on how to troubleshoot the connection would also be helpful.

Thank you.

Can you reverse telnet to the Lantronix device? On a Cisco device you can by telnetting to port 20xx where xx is the async serial's absolute line number.

No I don't think we can reverse telnet to the Lantronix device. I have attempted to use netcat to send data across the network to the Lantronix ip address/port number. I guess what I am looking for is another method to send data to the Lantronix device, maybe a perl script or something like that.
