I have a site where the Combo card is in slot 1.
Customer Is adding 4 PRI's so the combo card must be removed to make way for a VCM64 and dual PRI module. There is an empty slot (4)to allow for the second VCM 64 and Dual PRI card.

There are in slot 2 a DS8 and in slot 3 phone 8. Already with Dual PRI cards. (customer has fully redundant trunking from two service providers.)

Plus a couple DS30 expansion modules.

What is the best way to exchange the Combo for VCM64 and renumber the ports?

I would remove the combo card first and delete it in Manager under Control Unit before inserting new VCM64.

will I still need to touch every digital and analog extension on the system since their port will have changed?

Their ports will not change, you will just lose the extns associated withe Dig and analogue ports on the combo :)

save old copy of config with combo cards, associated lines, users and extensions.

Power down IPO, remove two cards

power up IPO, remove cards from control unit in programming, remove associated lines, users and extensions (carefully!!! DO NOT remove anything that is not associated with the two cards that have been removed. customizing columns in the group pane so as to show the card/module/port etc. can be rather helpful... extensions/lines associated with removed cards will typically show 0/0 as card-module/port provided you have manager set to show it)

Save (IPO will reboot)

shutdown IPO.

Add new cards

powerup IPO

IPO will automatically create lines etc. associated with new PRI's.

I would not bother removing the redundant Combo card until a 2nd vcm64 is required
it is quite legal to av both a combo & a VCM in the same system.

I do find the described configuration to be quite strange

6 PRI circuits on a system this size? even allowing for the redundancy requirement that is quite a lot

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Thanks all,

Significant growth plans along with 60 IP phones not mentioned they are deploying. plus another 50 coming for a call center that has sometimes long wait times is the reason for the trunking. And it is 8 PRI's total. I don't want them down for one Dual PRI card now and then another dual PRI later. Just take it down, get them ready, and be done.

Server edition with distributed trunking over ip500v2's for resiliency is the next year project. But this will get them through what they need til then.
