Hi,
Just wanted to get some feedback on whats the best way to fight spam on Exchange Server 5.5 currently some user seem to just get two or five but other user seem to get at least 30 a day. Any suggestions, Thank you.
We just installed a McAfee e250 appliance (it also comes in larger versions -- but we only have a 40 person office). When configured as a bridge (in line between ISA & rest of the world) it is GREAT -- has removed the pressure of virus scanning from our exchange server plus removes about 6-700 spams a day!!). We did have to use the call in support to do some of the configuration , but they were VERY helpful and knowledgable!! The appliance is primarily designed as an antii virus agent. The spam killer is extra software that you purchase and add on.
MessageLabs offer a service whereby they scan all inbound and outbound mail for both viruses and spam, and have various ways of flagging spam so that it can be filtered out. They have a virtually unrivalled hit rate for identifying both types of undesirables.
We have about 600 users and am running Exchange 5.5. Had all kinds of problems with SPAM mail going to senior executives. Have since purchased and installed XWall. It really works well and can run on the Exchange server with ver little overhead. Have had to work a bit to get everything honed down, but for $350, you can't beat it. On a daily basis, it blocks about 1100 E-Mails. Good luck!
