I know this might be a bit obscure of a topic, if anybody knows, what is the best way to back a VMWare Virtual server. Is it:
- Back up the server as normal
- Backup the Directory for each virtual machine.
- Or backup the entire VMWare server (with all virtual machines)

any help would be great

Thanks

The VM server files will be in use by VMWare. If you check the Software compatibility list for backup exec there are some suggested methods.

You can backup the folders with VMWare image using VSS (on w2k3) or VSP (on W2k). You can also power down the VMWare machine and backup then. Works fine for me.
