What is the best utility for cleaning out temp folders in Windows. If use Windows Explorer you will find that most files you cannot delete due to various reasons. I use CCleaner but only seems to delete some files. Some of our applications at work writes to User profile\Local Settings\Temp but i can never delete those files. Either in use by some application or something else.

I don't think they'll necessarily be any better at cleaning out old files, but you could look at Glary Utilities and Advanced System Care. They don't just delete temp/old files, but they do that as well as other things.

And actually, if I remember correctly, you can change the settings in CCleaner, as to how long since last activity before allowed to delete the file.

Also, if a file is in use by something else right now, then you shouldn't delete the file, unless you know it's a virus or something. And if it is getting to that point, you may perhaps need to handle that manually... maybe by killing the process that has it locked, and manually verifying, THEN deleting the file.

In CCleaner you can go into Options and select extra folders. There is an option to save to an Ini file, so I guess you can copy the settings to another pc (never tried)

I use CCleaner on every PC I touch and I also use the Registry cleaner piece of it - never a problem.

I've used EasyCleaner in the past, but I think CCleaner is a little more polished and works just as well if not better. On the other hand EasyCleaner has a portable version.

I second CCleaner. I keep it on my memory stick and give to anyone who doesn't have it.

The problems with Windows Clean Up is that it's just so dammed slow!
