Best Solution for email attachments?

I'm using a Palm OS5 device (Treo 600) and get email forwarded from my corporate Outlook mailbox (VersaMail).

What is the best overall solution to receiving email with attachments -- wireless -- and the4n having Palm access to open, edit, save, and resend the MSWord and MSExcel attachments?

I'm willing to changeaway from VersaMail if needed.

I know that the new versions of SnapperMail and M/S Mail support attachmennts, but I haven't tried either of these versions to see how well they work. Aileron has a solution that works really well, and is compatible with all three major Word Processing players (DocsToGo, QuickOffice, and WordSmith). They require a subscription (you can still use your current email account) to their service, but it's certainly worth looking at, and is priced reasonably.

All three solutions would be worth investigation on your part.

If you have agendus mail pro or inboxtogo then you will not have problem sending attachments , message me back if you want the files , it works fine on my palm tungsten C , do u have a memory stick because u can normally attach only from a memmory stick.

Well the problem is not with your Email client, it is with the Apps that are capable of reading the Attachments. Quick Office will be able to read native Office documents, and it is pretty fast, should be blistering on a Tungsten, I have seen it running on a Kyocera 7135 OS4.1 and it runs pretty good. If you modify the Office Documents in anyway it will change the format to Quickoffice, and PCS will not be able to read them. But you can attach the Docs with almost any mail package now. Only problem is the Quick Powerpoint App, can't read Vector Graphics in the PPT files. Other wise it reads almost everything.

The latest version of Documents to Go supports Word Docs in their native file format, and even gives you the option of saving a doc to a card in that that format.

If you use the Corsoft solution (Aileron) above you won't have to worry about any of this. Corsoft converts the docs from WordSmith, DocsToGo, or QuickOffice PDB format to Word Docs and back when you send the email. It's smooth and reasonably priced, but not everyone likes the user interface (could be more intuitive). It's worth looking at if nothing else.

The only problem with the Corsoft Solution is that you need everything converted to and from these formats on the Server(your PC I assume). It isn't a independant solution, I wanted my palm to be unchained from my PC, and don't want anything converted anywhere. Quick office is a Palm native app that doesn't need any PC connected to do the office doc reading or converting. And Ailieron lists Quick office for reading Office docs anyway. So from my quicky preview of the web page. It looks like a simple front end emailer that uses the other apps, like Docs to go and such to convert them on the PC.
I guess its up to paul what technique he wants, but personally I want to be able to open stuff in the Camp Ground or on the Ski Slope With out my Work PC. I can convert and copy anything over to the palm once I'm at my PC anyway.

Actually you send the email through your current email account, it gets forwarded to a Corsoft server (invisible to you), then forwarded to the receiver (basically the same thing in reverse for received messages). You're not chained to a PC in the slightest. I do, however, understand your reluctance to try Aileron. I just want to make it clear that no PC is required to use their software, and you are not required to have an application that will read native office documents.

Ahh, Thats a interesting way of doing it. I rememeber another service that was doing that(can't remember the name) . I was super reluctant for that service, even though it was free, during that time. I really wouldn't like other people(servers) handling my corporate information. (Being the Security officer as well), I definitely wouldn't want my Salesmen usin it. Maybe I'm a little anal, but I know they wouldn't audit there usage and send passwords and Money figures and such :/

Just want to say that I use DocumentsToGo which works seamlessly. You don't have to do anything to convert any Office docs- when they're on the Palm they work, when they're on the PC they work! It seems to automatically pick them out of attachments as well with no bother. Haven't tried any other packages.

But you have to HotSync (right?). The other solutions work without hotsyncing (assuming you have wireless).
