On a Partner 8.0 system with 28 telephones. I am looking for the best way to keep thier phone system up. Battery backup will be first option. But if that does not work or goes dead before power goes back up. How do i get phone service? Thanks for suggestions

Regards,

The system has PFT (Power Failure Transfer) ports. In the event of power failure, you could replace the system phone at Extension 10 with a single line set, and you have line 1.

Extension 11 --> Line 2

Assuming next module is a 308.

Extension 19 --> Line 6
Extension 20 --> Line 7

Each module has 2 PFT ports.

Well, if your UPS fails before the commercial power is restored, then use a little Honda generator or equivalent to power it.

Aside from having a heavy-duty UPS, I like to have a "Plan B" wiring scheme. In my case, ext. 10/11 aren't the first phones we'd need in an power failure.

Wire a phone jack for each CO line near your system board. Then when the need arises, you can unplug appropriate extensions from the processor and plug directly into the CO line (obviously you'll need a single line set for each ext. you do this for). If the cables aren't long enough you might need a short "extension" cable. This also works well for troubleshooting the CO lines.

I have also wired single line jacks on each line and then have a couple of cordless phones for "just in case." It works well, especially with the cordless. And the same phones plug into ext 10 and 11 and give you line 1 and 2.

If there is no AC, what do the cordless sets use for power?
