I have ordered my 4.0 upgrade from my reseller months ago. Still don't have it. I have 2 quick questions if anyone has the time.

1) What is the part number for the upgrade? Have they changed the licensing model for 4.0 from 3.3?

2) Where is the cheapest place to pick up the upgrade. Seems that some online stores have it cheaper.

Thanks!

ccmuser,
I can partially agree with you one this. The new telephony specialization requires a total of 6 successfull installations before you can purchase the equipment through distribution. That is pretty tough and you have to learn somewhere. Just like IP routing, you have to start with the fundamentals and work your way up to the fancy stuff. My cisco telephony partner pretty much sucks. They are not very good at what they do, but there are not many around and I have to buy the equipment through somebody. I end of doing it all on my own so I know how it works. It has paid off becuase my company is doing its first Cisco IPT implementation (for another company) in a few weeks. We ar able to take our expereince and apply it to another company.

That is not a required to be a avvid reseller. There are not installation numbers restricting your ability to resale this.. You need to be a parner with a Ip telephony ccnp on staff.. At least 2 to get any decent discoutns.. A SE of your own( passed the cisco routing and voice SE exams) and a trained sales person( same req) passed the sales person exams... All these exams can me taken at prometric.

But besides that..what stops a VAR from procuring the goods from a legit reseller in the final buyers name.. And performing the install. This is how a majority of installs are going right now!!!

REALLY? PLEASE POST WERE YOU GOT INFO HERE!!!
I am a channel partner!!!

I just read your doc.. That must be a relativly new req.. But there are many ways around that... One.. (use cisco credit or state contacts so they actually procure the final sale).. you just take your percentage off the bottom line.
I am actually glad they are doing that though...

It still does nothing to stop a VAR or a small shop from performing the install for anyone..

NO Computerhighguy YOU ARE WRONG. That is the wrong specialization. You want the IP Communications specialization. Look at those requirements, say nothing about installs etc.

The services specialization is for people who run CLECS and want to offer voip in a managed fashion.

So I am.
