Greetings everyone. I recently (within the last 6 months) took over full responsibility of backups for my company. We are a rather large company that backs up an average of 6.5 Terrabytes of data each evening. After my extensive 1 week training experience (the individual who's position I took over left the company), I've had to learn everything on my own.

Before I start becoming a frequent poster on the forums, can anyone point me to any best practices FAQs or other information to read before posting? I'd like to avoid asking questions that could easily be found on a FAQ. I've looked through the FAQs on Tek-Tips but many seem outdated. We are currently running a mix of BrightStor v9 and V11 (lots of problems since upgrading, so be careful everyone).

Thanks in advance!

Not sure just what you are asking for but here the best place is the Advanced Search. As for the faqs most are still applicable since little changes in the way it works, more often the changes are in new features.

The bigest depository of information is at CA, either esupport.ca.com or supportconnect.ca.com.

My advice is to dump Arcserve. We did because we finally got fed up. Sorry for the negative message, but we had patches of hair missing and bruised foreheads and finally got rid of it. It was either that or dedicate an FTE to dealing with Arcserve on a daily basis. It was costing more to use it than it should have. We expect to monitor backups and verify that they run as they are supposed to with an occasional problem. With Arcserve we were fighting issues daily. As for their support, you don't even want to go there.

well trained user can overcome alot of problems happenning with product and even will reduce the requirement to call CA supoort from time to time I am not protecting CA ! but problems are exit everywhere from Microsoft till mohamdr this why every company having a support team.
