I currently have Micros 3700 in one of my locations. I am not entirely happy with the system, particularly the idea that we cannot quickly control and change our own settings. Micros, in my mind, has terrible customer service and so does the distribution company I am using.

I have Crystal Point in 6 of my other locations and this works great as we have customized it to fit our liking.

My question, what is the best POS system for a restaurant operating in an airport environment. I currently have server banks but this is also an issue. I have a full bar and kitchen, each with their own printing systems.

Pro's and Con's of each system would be nice.

Thanks

I like squirrel it has all the features and is The most user friendly especially manager functions which is almost 95% live on the front of house terminals you don't need to refresh every time a change is made
Like aloha keeping the management in the dining room and out of the office.

Cheers,

You can/should be able to change your own settings. Just because you don't understand what you are looking at doesn't mean you can't do it. If you need training other than the basic day-to-day operations, i'm sure your local dealer will be happy to accommodate.

Change all you want, but it will cost you money to have your dealer come in and figure out what you did and then fix it. They are complex databases and take time to learn.

What is it that you can't change on your Micros system? As MichaelWayne said, it's a highly customizable database, you just have to know how to make the changes.

Is there anything specific that you need the system to do for the airport environment, or are you a standalone restaurant inside the airport? If it's the latter the 3700 should be able to run the restaurant fine. For instance, one of biggest restaurants is a 7 revenue center monster with 2 dining floors, a take-out counter, 3 kitchens and 2 bars. During the busy season it was handling over 9,000 transaction per day. Each kitchen has it's own dedicated order devices as do the bars; a total of 16 kds screens and 12 order printers. It uses kitchen themes to redirect groups of order devices depending on whether we have one, two or three kitchens open.

Just curious, if you have another POS that you're happy with in 6 other location why are you switching? We use the 3700 in all of our restaurant and it seems that opening a location with something else would just cause headaches. We've bought restaurants that were using Squirrel, Aloha and PosiTouch in the past. I tried them all, even went to training classes for Squirrel and Posi, but in the end they all got traded in for 3700 systems. Although, I have to ,grudgingly, say that Squirrel's order printing/consolidation beats any other system I've seen, hands down.

I've seen Micros but I stayed with Aloha for some reason. Haven't seen Squirrel yet, Im from Manila.

It's all apples to oranges. Everyone has their favorite, though some bring things to the table that others don't. What I find is the bottom line for most as to why they don't like a certain system is quite frankly, they don't know it, weren't trained enough, and have experience with another one that they are used to and thats why they like it better. Micros, and most of your other biggie's like Aloha, are pretty customizable and can do almost anything, though the software itself doesn't always make it easy as some things require the use of scripts etc. I prefer micros as thats what I am used to dealing with as a programmer, but i must admit, I've taken a few idea's from Aloha and others and found ways to implement them into micros to suite a customers needs.

Hi,

I personally am using AccuPOS Retail Point of Sale Software Systems at my company for years and I have always been highly satisfied with their products and support.
There is also a review about the best POS software systems available on the internet in which AccuPOS was ranked #1.
In case you might be interested, I think that they also offer a free demo version of their software on their website.
