We will be building a new fire station. Our current fire station is using an opt11C at 4.5. The dispatch center is using 2616 sets with two add on modules since they handle and dispatch 911 calls for our City as well as other neighbouring municipalities.

When we build the new fire station, I am planning on installing a CS1000E.

For the administrative staff, I was going to install IP sets, probably the 1200 series.

I wanted to poll the group on what options there may be for the dispatch center phones - should I stick with the digital sets perhaps going with the 3905's or 3904's with add on modules, or should I consider going with the IP sets with add on modules?

Thanks.

I take it it will be HA system? I would be prone to diversify just a little and have at least 1 digital line card slotted, even though they too, will rely on the Network and the Network of the MGC it is housed in.

I have a 911 dispatch center using 2616's w/AOM's which are still supported on 1000e. They like the large display and larger buttons
on the 2616's .

A CS1000E is an ALL-IP backplane, so yes be certain that your network is solid and your ELAN is segregated. Further, we have had LOTS of issues with our MC32S cards.
If you ask me it is kinda scary having a 911 dispatch on a non-TDM system - I hope you setup a few 1FBs or someting to have some emergency trunks in case your system fails.
I would also suggest having a dedicated core router for your Telecom system so it can route for your telephony in case you have a data core failure. We recently had a data core issue and found out the hard way that we needed to re-engineer the telephony so it can route itself.
I would tend to think that the 2616s are better as well - not really a fan of 3900 series. I do like the 1140s for staff phones.
