Hello all,

I have a question I am having someone do the web site for our music studio. But they are coming into a problem when Flash compresses (if thats what it is indeed doing) the music we sent. We have tried MP3s and a few other formats. What is the best audio compression to use for Flash for the best quality? Does it make a difference?

Here is the site if you wish to see it. Go to Music and click on a sample...

Thanks in advance,

it doest really matter what audio file you use and flash compresses audio to your settings..i usually use mp3 mono at 8bits since it compresses to a much much smaller file...of course depends on the music..i use lots of instrumental so i dont really lose much...but for other music with vocals you might want better

Thanks for the repsonse. What is less lossy compression then MP3 that FLash can utilize? I dont really care much about size... I am more concerned with audio quality and then load time of course. On our html version the samples sound great little loss of quality but the Flash page sound slike junk lost the stereo mix and everything...

when you have the flash file go to publish settings and click the tab that says flash..there is a audio settign that you can set by pressing the "set" button

Double-click your sound clip in the Library. If you've imported a .wav sound, select MP3 in the Compression box, rather than default, set the Bit Rate at 160kbps, the Quality at Best and uncheck the Preprocessing box (Stereo to Mono). That should give you the best possible sound at the lowest size.
In the Flash tab, in the Publish settings, make sure the Override sound settings is unchecked, or if it is set the sound settings that you chose in the library.
