I am looking for the best method to connect to a definity pbx with the ip soho. I have yet to purchase the unit, so I am looking for the best configuration. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you got VoIP facilities in the definity? If so, I'd go down that route (especially as the SOE - soho - has a 3 channel vcm mod built in).

yes i do have Voip facilities.. is there any thing that I should ask for when I purchase this product ?

That depends on how many voip calls you want at once. The SOE comes with 3 channels as standard - I get that working first ;).

So - to answer your question - just buy a bog standard SOE - they can always be upgraded...

Note that you can also pay a little more and get the 16VCM channel version of the SOE

If I'm not mistaken, SOE cannot be upgraded (except swapping/buying a new unit).

If by upgrading you mean adding ports, you are correct. You can add a T1/PRI or WAN card in the back (or BRI if you don't live in North America) but that's it.

You CAN upgrade the firmware like any other IPO, however.
