I've 2 networks connected via G.703 (E1) link.
On both sides of the link there is a 1760 Router, with a G.703 WIC.

Over the link (2 Mbps) will transit both IP and VOIP trafic (the VOIP QoS is managed by the switches and telephone hardware on both ends).

What is the best configuration for the CISCO 1760 routers ?

Bridge ?

Thanks

Paolo

Hi Paolo,
why use bridging? I'd use routing. Just set up a few static routes pointing across the WAN and it should work fine. Bridging would cause alot of unnecessary traffic across your E1.

I've thinked about bridging because some of the protocols that I need to transfer from router to router are not routable (i.e. netbios).

Paolo,
if you have a WINS Server you could get around this "routing" issue by using the "ip helper address" command, this opens up the ports for netbios. So you can use routing. This command should be applied to the Ethernet interface at the far end Router.
e.g.
ip-helper address x.x.x.x ( where x.x.x.x is the address of your WINS server )

and if you need to transport netBIOS then use dlsw

dlsw local-peer peer-id LOCALrtrIP
dlsw remote-peer 0 tcp REMOTErtrIP
dlsw bridge-group 1

int e0 (LAN)
bridge-group 1

^z
bridge 1 protocol ieee
