Hello all,

Just got my NT4.0 network upgraded to SBS 2003, I was hoping for some guidance as to which AV programs are the the most effective and least expensive (initial price + annual subscription) for a server-only solution. All (8) Client PCs have Norton AV, and are "refreshed" every year, but of course standard NAV won't install to SBS2003. Many thanks.

Tony

I use Computer Associated eTrust Antivirus - very cost effective and comes with a perpetual licence for updates.

$38 for server software is my idea of cost-effective. Thanks Scriggs.

this might be too late, but F-Prot by Frisk software is excellent too--and cost effective for the corporate versions (very cheap actually) though only competitive for single license.

the program runs very light in the background and has a terrific detection rate (sometimes mine updates 2 or 3 times a day)

podunk, F-prot is good, but how do you get it to run in DOS mode on XP (or dos emulation mode) ?

F-prot does have a dos scanner on there site that is free and made for dos however it is very old so does not do any good. I agree with podunk f-prot is good, in my opinion the best. If your looking for an antivirus with a good dos scanner check out solo antivirus. They have a very good dos scanner.

It has a trial, in order to use it load in dos. run solclean.bat for dos. Its been a while since ive used it but I believe thats the one for running it in dos.
