I wanted to get everyone's feedback of those individuals that have gone through the testing process. I have already read some of the threads here that reference books but since the topics in security is ever-so changing, I wanted to know some of the latest.

I am looking into purchasing this book:
Any other suggestions?

Looking for an "All Inclusive" book isn't going to do much. It can give you a framework of what to expect but unless you have a broad spectrum of knowledge, you're cheating yourself into a certification.

perl -e 'print $i=pack(c5,(40*2),sqrt(7600),(unpack(c,Q)-3+1+3+3-7),oct(104),10,oct(101));'

The Shon Harris book posted by LadySlinger is the one I have been using. A classmate of mine used that as his only reference and passed. Two other teachers of mine are also using the Shon Harris book, they haven't taken the test yet. I am curious to how the official guide is.

You can't cheat yourself into the CISSP, you still need work experience to get certified.

I've done my research and apparently the Shon Harris book is the is excellent; the best out of all of them. I recently purchased it myself and am using it in conjunction with the Cybex CISSP Study Guide (Third Edition) wich I also really like. I think both books are laid out very well.

Someone just told me too that the CISSP is pretty good.

Then they followed with the sentence: "But there's a some things that are wrong..." [ponder]

Hi

I have passed the exam in the last 3 Months and the best advice on what to study is Shon Harris 3RD Edition, this in conjunction with the CCCURE.ORG practise exams, saw me through. Hope this helps
