I am running Backup Exec 8.5.

I am backing up several computers to the main BK-Exec server.

2- computers are being backed-up from their WIN-Nt shares
1- Computer is being backed-up from a win98 remote agent.

Recently the backup engine (service) starting failing with a Dr. Watson error (bengine.exe)

I found that if I omit the remote servers the back up completes ok. If I add then it causes the bengine.exe error.

I have not been able able to find any reference to this problem on the veritas site.

Any ideas !

-Danny

Check to see if you can connect to the remote shares from a CMD prompt or in Explorer with the same details as BENT is using. Have the user details changed on the remote servers, ie. password changes.

If they have then you will need to use the connect as function in BENT. Another option is get the Agent for the NT boxes and use that.

I am currently using the remote WIN/NT agent.

I have checked the login accounts, but all seems to be fine.

If I remove the remote NT servers for my Backup, the back up works fine. When I add them back in and attempt to execute it hangs up in a different place each time. Basically the BK exec tape loader service stops running and a I get a Dr. Watson error (bengine.exe error)

The strange thing is it worked fine for the last 4 weeks, then out of the blue it started failing ?

This is not document on the Verita site.

Any Ideas ?

Hi Danny,

Your posting did not mention which version of 8.5 your are running. Should be 3572. The software shipped as version 3571 which has know Dr. Watson issues. See Technote 234332 on Veritas.
