I purchased a new compaq Evo laptop and am attempting to install a new Belkin 54Mbps Wireless Network Card. I know the card works as it runs on another Win 98 machine, and I have updated the version of xp from microsoft. Whenever I plug in the card into the PCMAI slot, it slows the computer almost to a standstill and no matter how many times I reinstall a new or downloaded driver it does not work. I have even reformatted the disk...any options?

Are you using Belkin's software to connect or Windows XP's built in stuff to connect?

I've seen problems in the past using 3rd party software on Windows XP systems.

I am using Belkins own software - They say its suitable for win xp

I would try uninstalling Belkin's software and try using Windows XP's - just to see what it does.
