Being newish to the game am really after an opinion on a machine Im trying to fix now. At first the pc on boot would give no post at all but give a message on the monitor of no signal. So I checked the monitor and video card which seem to work fine. I am thinking motherboard is fried, as I have had everything out except for cpu and still nothing, but after leaving the machine for about an hour did have a post signal then, but havent had one since after playing with all the cards and ram sticks. I did try a new cpu and still nothing. Am thinking motherboard but would like another opinion on this, as it could be something else I havent picked up on. The lady whos machine it is also works as a leadlight manufacturer and there is a lot of lead dust in the tower if thats any help. Also it is only 2 years old. Thanks

Interesting.
The lead dust needs to be cleaned from the mother board. Check the bios to make sure that the correct cpu settings are there and that the battery is still good. The wrong setting could get a reation like the one you discibed. Try this first and let us know... Let everything that have breath praise the Lord.

I cant get to the bios as soon as I turn the pc on I get the no signal from the monitor. I have checked with a known good video card and monitor but will clean the motherboard out.

Wierd, an hour after hitting the power, it POSTed?
It appears you've logically eliminated all the other components from being the cause, but what about the power supply? Swap in a known good one, with all non-essential cards out and see what you get.
Could still be the mobo, perhaps an accumulations of lead dust settled on it and shorted it?
