hi,
i am new to veritas so bear with me. We have installed Veritas Exec for Windows server on an "iomega" backup drive. we can access the "iomega" drive through "remote desktop connection". how do i go about getting the files on other computers on server to show up in "veritas" backup program. The person who set it up told me to use "remote desktop connection" and go to veritas folder and go to Rant32 folder and hit setup. But when i am using a remote desktop connection ---doesnt this try to install on the "iomega" instead of the local computer through which i am accessing it.
i have tried to copy the rant32 folder to my local machin and used cmd "setupaofo.exe" to install the veritas but even then i cannot see any files on the local machine when using using the "veritas"
thanks

i guess another simple way to put the question is:
how do i set up other computers on the network so that veritas on a server can find them and select files/folders to backup.
thanks

Tools>Serial Numbers&Installation.

Then select Remote Install, uncheck everything else, then hit NEXT. Select Windows agent (right-click on it & then make the selection you want)

When the PC's you to push the agents to. Make sure the account you use is one with full administrative rights.

Sorry, keyboard stopped working :<

Tools>Serial&Installation. Installer will start up.

Select Remote Install, uncheck everything else, then hit NEXT. Select Windows agent (right-click on it & then make the selection you want)

Your domain or workgroup will appear, now select the PC's you want to push agents to -hold the CTRL down for multiple targets. When you are done hit NEXT. You will see the options avaialble to you, select them. You will be then prompted for credentials. Make sure the account you use is one with full administrative rights. From that point on you'll see the progress of the installlations. The machines will require a reboot in most cases which is something you'll be warned about before proceeding.

hi,
i tried to install the "Remote Agent" like you said on the workstation and it did install except when i am trying to create a new backup job it is giving me error. The error says:
"selection of this item is disabled. you are not authorized to access this item, a license key for Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows server is not installed on the machi, or the Remote Agent is old or incompatible."

any idea how to check the license key? I think we had this problem before and the person who installed this in the first place removed the install and said once the computer was restarted i should be able to install a fresh copy and then create a backup job...but it doesnt allow me to install with the same reason.

Thanks

You're obviously missing the license key. You'll have to run the serial & installatio part again to see what keys you have and don't have.

Be sure to add your license keys to the list of keys in the box. If you don't add the key for the remote agent, it won't work.
