Help Please!

I have inherited a website to maintain ( for my local table tennis league. My first job was to transfer the hosting to Streamline.net which has worked fine. However, the website does have a FORUM (you can find this on the main menu bar on all pages) which uses MySQL databases and I'm not sure how to get this working with the new host. The host has provided me with a user name and password for MySQL and I know where my FORRUM databases/table are stored (I have transferred them to the new host), just not sure what to do next.

Thanks!

Dump the data, then import it in your new database.

Do you phpmyadmin installed. You can export the database using this and then import this .sql file to your new database using phpmyadmin if it is installed in the server. Then it should be just a case of altering the config file for your forum.

Many thanks for your reply.....Must apologise as I'm really in at the deep-end with this as I have no previous knowledge/experience!
My new host have provided me with a login and password which does take me to a phpmyadmin screen where I have the option to Export....just not sure what to do next!

If you can trust me I can take a look at it for you if you want?

You see the export button. Click on that them export as an .sql file. Then on your new host in phpmyadmin click on import locate the sql file on your hard drive and click import

If the mysql file is over 2mb your host may not be allow to upload it, so your best bet is to zip the thing up and email it to them.

Do you mean export from the original host? Unfortunately I don't have access to this anymore as the server has closed down. I guess I will need to get copies of the FORUM database on my pc first? Also, on my new host there doesn't seem to be an Import option - I see Export but not Import.

Really appreciate your help (and patience!)

....just seen your previous message. If you could take a look that would be great. Please let me know your email address and I will send you the login/password details.

Thanks
