AU
Hi all

I am Avaya IPO engineer who have installed 30+ IPO500v2 and server editions on ESXi but I know nothing about Aura.
I would like to start learning how to install and maintain Aura too. Please give me some basic idea.

In IPO config and license info are in SD card and as long as you have SD card you can use any hardware if you detected hardware failure. How about Aura?
Say you have G450 and S8300 server in it with few MM7xx cards. Where is license and configuration info? Supporse G8300 has..
What if G8300 got hardware failure and you will need to replace with new G8300 module, how do you restore config and license?
The license is linked with serial number or can be used with any hardware?
Sorry for stupid questions but it would be appreciated if someone kindly teach me.

Thanks

IPO had ADI for licensing until about 9.1 where PLDS started and now in R10, it's all PLDS. CM used RFA until 5.2 with a little PLDS for some corner cases and by R6 it was all PLDS.

In RFA, your license was tied to a piece of hardware - a gateway serial number or an IPSI card serial number (the card that makes cabinets work). So, provided you had your license file and that unique piece of hardware somewhere in your network, it didn't matter what server you used to install it. What mattered more was that you installed it correctly because you can install in different sizes and with single or double servers, etc.

In PLDS, your license is tied to the MAC of the license server you use, not the application you're licensing. Now, this could be WebLM inside System Manager or a standalone WebLM virtual machine. So, install one of those on one server and install a whole Aura stack on other servers. Kill the Aura servers, reinstall them, repoint them to the same license server you started with, and it'll all work.
