Well, Im happy with my linksys wifi router. But usually once a day I have to goto 192.168.1.1 to get my internet connection back. It happens simultaneously on my 2 pcs' and my laptop, doesnt seem to be any warning, and it happens on all 3 at once. It can happen while just surfing, while playing online games, whenever, no rhyme or reason. Ive seen it occur late at nite, in early am, mid afternoon. 2 pcs are cat5 in, and laptop is wireless. Ive run several spywares, I have NAV, optimimum online says they are not reporting any problems. I can still browse LAN and see other pc's. Any ideas?

Hi,

Just want to know who is your broadband provider? Cable or DSL.

Anyway you may want to Clone your MAC address of your main computer (ipconfig/all on the DOS prompt copy the physical address ...6 pairs of char... separated by colons : )

if that doesn't work reflash or upgrade the firmware of your router.

go to > support > downloads > select befw11s4 > download the latest firmware.

hope this helps...

Check the temp of the router .Where is the router located ? Move the router to a well ventilated area. You could be having a temp problem ?

Gonna try firmware first. Its a cool cucumber, wide open, lotsa airflow.
Will let you know what happens.

Anybody in your house happen to use a cordless phone ? Anybody using a 2.4 ghz cordless can cause interference on a wifi .

Well firmware didnt help. Also stopped all cordless phone traffic, problem still showed up. Im startin to thing a bad router.....

So, the votes in, Im an idiot....
After I did firmware, still had problem so Im thinkin bad router. As I hold it up as if offering it to the garbage gods, I notice the little, alomst imperceptible(for obvious reasons) button I so often ignore called - reset -.
Need I go on...?

Wooops, new information....
After a day or so, the problem re-appeared. I did some more digging and came up with the real culprit. I dug as deep as I could on the Linksys site and fond some info regarding 'channels'. I went to 192.168.1.1, and on the Wireless tab, I changed the channel from 6(default) to 5, and bingo no problems since. So Im just gonna say everything all together ficed the problem. :)
