We have a Netopia R5100 that is controlled by our ISP. I would like to add the linksys befvp41 behind this router to set up a VPN connection to another office.

I am confused as to how to configure the WAN side of the befvp41. Since it is behind the Netopia how do I give it a WAN address and what do I plug in to the WAN port ?

Is this configuration even possible ?

Thanks,
Bill

I would like to do something similar, is this possible?

A VPN-router behind a router?

I think you might have to bridge the netopia modem/router over to the linksys router so you control all wan settings through the linksys router. That way you would be using the netopia router as just a modem and the linksys would handle setting up things like static or dynamic ip's nat and so on.Is this for your personal use or company use the reason I ask is because if your company has other static ip's or is running webserver smtp servers ect. you might run into problems by making the front door to your network depend on a residential retail linksys router.Might want to look into upgrading that 5100 to the next model that has vpn built in I think. then again ]I dont know to much about the netopia product have only worked with a couple cayman models and a r5200 so there might be other ways.
Best of luck

we have this setup with a R5300, use static ip setting and the netopia ip as the default gateway and the dns from the netopia wan settings. As for the VPN with the linksys, I am trying this same situation and have not been able to get it to work.
