Got a good one.

Added a BEFSX41 to an existing DSL connection, LAN ip 192.168.10.0, WAN PPPoE.

Set up IPSEC to 10.1.1.0, connects fine.

Router code 1.50.013

Customers PC will communicate with the router web interface and my laptop, it will also communicate using VNC over the VPN. It will not communicate to the internet. Laptop works to internet just fine. (tried all four ports)

Linksys Tech Supt sent 1.51.003 code, flashed router from laptop and now customers pc worked fine to internet. VPN would not connect. Reset to router factory defaults, and now computer will not communicate to internet.

Any ideas?

PS. reinstalled windows XP on computer last night.

Hmmm... that is a good one. Seems I read somewhere else about needing to fiddle with the MTU settings on PPPoE. Seems the BEFSX41 has a little problem with DSL and an MTU of 1500. I have seen this myself on a VPN I have set up. The router will do one or the other fine, but balks when you ask it to VPN and browse the 'net. I would back the MTU off to around 1428 (you will have to do this on both ends I think). That seems like the area to start in anyway. Also, are both ends of the VPN with the same Telco? I have had problems when I start crossing LATAs with VPNs. Hope this helps.

hi,

Just curious as to what firmware the router is shipping with nowadays ?

Kevin

kevin,

From what I saw on the website they ship with firmware 1.50.18 and that firmware is very buggy.
