I am getting ready to finish my first database that will be used my many users...I will continue to administer the database and I am wondering:

Once I have created custom menus (where I will restrict users from customizing any menus/toolbars or any part of the design and security of the database) and disallowed my users from using the special keys like F11, how will I be able to get into the database to make any changes? Are there any special things I should do to the database to make it accessible to myself as an administrator but not the users?

Thanks for any thoughts,
tgikristi

depends on your security setup

if you used a workgroup setup, then you add a user as administrator and you hold the login/passwords and then programtically return the menus and DB window

if you used the startup features in access to remove the menus and hide the database window, then just hold the shift key down at startup and you will get the whole DB and menus

For some reason, I thought the shift key was a special key so I was worried I would loose access to that. I also was afraid if the users used the shift key that they would somehow be able to circumvent the security I set up (through the wizard) but in playing around with it, I see that's not the case.

Thanks for the info!
