Beeping/Tone while using VM Functions

I have a issue with a beeping tone while using voice mail functions - i.e.:Checking messages, While recording/playing outgoing message, recording/playing the AA menu prompts. This tone cuts in about a minute into the users session on all of the above functions. The VM is Partner Mail VS R4.0.

Any Ideas?

When you access voice messaging do you press the VM button (or dial Intercom 777) THEN pick up the handset or do you pick up the handset FIRST then press the VM button?

If you do the latter, picking up the handset will pick up an outside line and when you press the VM access button you will put that line on hold. I'm thinking that it is the hold recall reminder that you are hearing.

Proper way is to access VM first (speaker will come on) then pick up the handset.

Common user problem.
