Hello Everyone,
Before I begin - I have scoured the internet for help relating to the issue I am about to explain - I have also performed several troubleshooting steps, which I will list below.
ISSUE: My startup and shutdown sounds as well as a couple of audio programs output scraching and beeping sounds when playing .mp3's. Logic, Windows Media, and WinAmp work fine. The sound issue happens from both my soundcard and onboard sound, which leads me to believe it is a MOBO or XP OS issue.
HARDWARE:
-Brand new ASUS A7V8X-X MOBO (issue started since I installed the new MOBO)
-Sounblaster Platinum Sound Card (worked perfectly fine on my other MOBO, which also had XP installed)
TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS:
-Updated XP OS via Windows Update.
-Updated my SoundCard Drivers.
-Updated my MOBO including BIOS and other Drivers.
-Under Control Panel I insured that my Sounds options are all using my Sounblaster Card.
-Under Sound advance properties I ensured that Digital Ouput is NOT selected.
-Swapped the speakers with headphone, which did not make a difference so I know it is not my speakers.
-I checked my Reg Keys to see if other logins have differnt values than my Admin. Everything is ok here.
I think that's about all I can remember for now. Can anyone assist with this issue?
Thanks,
M
