beeping on lifting handset

Hi guys

for the last few months we have been getting some strange beeping on lifting the handsets on both incoming and outgoing calls on various digital phones, 3 beeps in succession.

It seems to happen to 1 extension for a few days/weeks then moves onto another extension for a while....

If you are getting confirmation tone,this could be that the extension has been hotlined to a function.check with SPEXP

Experience it, there is no substitute.

no, no spexi, its really strange 3 beeps in quick succession on lifting the handset, only seems to happen on digitals.

Not something to do with message waiting by any chance.
Another thought why not do a call trace just before picking up phone then while phone off hook do another.
I guess the hardest part is to bring it onto a particular phone to try to test it. Are there any common factors on the phones that you know about.
Ive always found if you can reproduce a fault your 90% on the way to fixing it.

Do these phones happen to use a headset and if so what kind?
If they do and are Plantronics headsets (other types could apply tho) Anyway if they have headsets in common ... they could need new batteries

Show us a SUSIP on a phone that BEEPS.. if it BEEPS, can you just hang up and it will BEEP again???
