Hi all!

The other day my computer (PIII 600) hung. To restart I had to unplug the computer (the switch or reset button didn't work). When I plugged the computer again a continuous beep could be heard and nothing more happened.
The only way to stop this awful sound is to unplug the system.

¿ Can anybody help me ?

Regards,

You may have a faulty piece of hardware. Try starting the computer without some of your internal hardware i.e. remove the sound card, the video card if you have more than one bank of memory remove the extra bank so that you are left with (if need be) just power going into your m/board. If you have no luck with this you may have a faulty m/board.

That can happen for a variety of reasons, the most commom one is a piece of hardware has become 'loose'.

What you should do is turn off the computer, take off the case and make sure all cards are properly seated intot he the bus - even take each out, inspect it for oxidization then replace it. Make sure your IDE connections are firmly seated and reseat your ram DIMMs.

I'll bet it's a ram DIMM or the HDD that's become loose )
