Beep on other ext while receiving voip fax

Hi,

Our customer has multiple IP-Office's (403)with voip on leased lines.
The faxes are also connected by voip, sending and receiving faxes works fine.
However, on any site, when a fax is received other extensions on that site can hear a beep/tone during the conversation...
The beep is sometimes more like a DTMF tone and sometimes like a 2-second sync sound. We can reproduce it by receiving faxes, so we know for sure that nobody is pressing dtmf buttons...

The sw-level was 1.4(27), but we upgraded to 2.1(15) and the problem still exists.
On the VPN line the fax-support is ticked.

Has anyone experienced something like this?

Weird. Are the local extensions that hear the tone also on VoIP calls? Do all local extensions hear the tone at the same time, and if so is it always the same amount of time since the start of the fax transmission? Finally, are you using DCP (DS/DT) phones or IP hardphones?

Tnx for the comment. Yes, the extns are on voip calls but only a few extns on every site experience the problem. Customer uses 20xx and analog phones and the beeps are heard on both types...

We have not yet succeeded in solving this problem. It's a strange thing...
On a remote site, someone is on the telephone and has a voip call routed through the main site. A fax call is delivered to this remote site, also routed through the main site.

During the sync tones of the faxes, just after the fax picks up the line, we hear a LOUD beep in the existing telephone conversation. This beep varies in duration from 1 second to about 2 minutes! During this beep you cannot continue the conversation.

This beep does not occus on every fax-call but is heard VERY often, while receiving AND while sending faxes.

Note: We encounter similar beep sounds in IPNC-networked INDeX switches. Looks like "data-calls" interfere on other calls.

I have also recently recieved c call from a cust complaining of beeps on IPNC's ( I had not yet traced it to fax calls thanks for the pointer), Has anyone reported this to avaya yet?
