I have ipo server edtion rel 9. I have changed the moh set to external and rebooted the box. but the beep is still there? is there anything else I can try?

Make sure the external device is connected and playing when you reboot otherwise the IPO doesn't see an external source and will continue to play the double-beep.

I can try that, but they want silence, can I remove the device after its done?

also I have 2 servers and 2 ip 500's all in same room. where should it be connected? I have 4 pri, 2 in each ip 500. but all the users are registered to the primary server. I have all 4 devices set to external in the programming.

where do I connect? in the 500's? which device controls the moh?

You could load a wav file onto the server, if all the phones are registered on the primary server, the call is still delivered as an external call to the primary server, the MOH will be provided by the primary server, you will need to name the file holdmusic.wav and it needs to PCM 8KHz 16 bit Mono, if you want to stream the MOH out to the expansions for local devices on them, you can set the Alternate Source on each expansion to be Line, see the help file in Manager under Tones and Music if you want to do this, it explains it quite well.

Or you can simply load the holdmusic.wav onto each individual V2 expansion.

I thought I saw something that mentioned you could use a usb device for the MOH source plugged into a usb port on the server?

You can, it will use the first available USB device / resource, but if all you want to do is provide silence, the wav file should work, the same could be said with silence on the USB!

ok I will try to record a silence wav file, any particular software you think is the best. I never had to make a new one.

The only reason I made it long(ish) rather than say 10 secs of silence, is just in case there is a little distortion/noise as it loops back, you don't want that happening too often :)

Last thing you want is silence.

Callers will hangup because they think the connection is lost because they here a dead line...

I agree, but they hold a company wide conf call 3 days a week, for 4 hrs a day. with 60 -100 people on it. and when someone gets a 2nd call they put the conf call on hold and makes the beeping sound. the bosses don't want to use the mute feature that the conf bridge provides because they would have to much to remember!!!

thanks amriddle01, for the wav file I will upload it tonight, reboot system and see if this makes the beep go away.
