We have a client that had a Nortel telephone system before we replaced it with the Avaya IP Office. The client has asked to have a "beep" play on an open hands-free auto intercom call. They are extremely concerned that someone internally will auto intercom into an office and listen in to what is happening in an office. As long as the intercom path is open they want the beep to play as a reminder. They had this feature on the old system and want it back. It is not acceptable to put the phone in do not disturb or turn the auto intercom feature off. I was wondering if someone has a creative short code on how we could achieve this.
Thanks in advance! Penny from Canada

It will only ring ones when HfAns is active.
Why is DND not acceptable if I may ask?
Maybe you can do a feature request at Avaya for that beep option.

If you use automatic intercom feature button and then dial the extension number it beeps a couple of times and then goes into intercom mode. 3.0(44) and 54 series handsets.

It does not beep throughout the intercom though.

Thank you for your responses. It is a puzzle to us as well that the Do Not Disturb, as well as, initial beep/ring cadence is unacceptable. We have spoken with Avaya regarding a private build and as they are the only client that is requesting this feature it will not be made a priority (understandably so). I just wanted to see if maybe someone had a work around for it. Thank again!
