Hello all...

Little question, when i install Veritas 9 (latest build: 4454) SBS version on my Windows 2000 server my server is constantly "beeping" every 3minute's the server beeps one time... short..
Does anybody has the same probs??? or knows how to solv this? When I stop the veritas services the beeping stops..

Very strange..

I have the same thing- same build from BE90 4554.

Does this occur when tape is running? My thinking is whenever a new alert pops up, you get a beep just prior to the alert. Usually, I just click the option not to show any more warnings and then click OK. That usually clears it up.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

Also, if you go to Tools>Options, then select Preferences. There are options for Alerts, one of them is to play a sound. Try unchecking that.

I think that is the Execview communications module doing the beep.
Stop the ECM service, see if the beeps goes away.

I am having the same problem. I had this problem a while ago and was able to fix it by changing something in the registry. It came back after some updates and a reboot. I just stopped the ECM service and is has appeared the beeping has stopped. Does anyone know if this service has to run for BackupExec to function?

The ECM service (Execview Commiunication Module) enables remote monitoring / administration.

If you dont use Execview you wont affect anything by stopping the service.
