I am currently backing up my remote servers over a nic that is also used for normal network traffic. I have now added an extra gigabit nic to all of them - connected via a gigabit switch. This switch is not plugged into our "normal network" and is stand-alone. Normally I have to reinstall the remote agent on all my remote servers. Does anyone have an idea how to change this without reinstalling the remote agent? Can I somewhere change the ip address manually without restarting the servers? Thanks!

on the remote server goto program file\veritas\backup exec\rant\ launch vxmon.exe and tell the agent to advertise on subnet you want. Then restart the agent.

On the backup exec server in the job under network specify the NIC to use for the job

Just to put my $.02 in, are these Linux/Mac/Windows/Novell servers?

The media server is installed on a W2K Standard server. The remote servers are both W2K & W2K3.

While having two network interfaces installed, you should be able to go to properties of the jobs > Settings > Network & Firewall > and should be able to choose which Network interface you wish to use. Should be then able to go and configure the agents to point to the backup network as opposed to previous main network.
